A Wounded Man

Daisy met Daniel on a summer’s day.
His mind in the war, watching bullets spray.
She looked in his eyes and Daisy made a plan.
So late that night when the room was dark.
His memories fired like a rifle spark.
Daisy she would nudge him and bring him home again.

Sometimes a plane would fly overhead.
And Daniel’d fly off to his fear and dread.
Or there’d be a bang, or an angry word was said.
But Daisy would know of the coming storm.
Tell him she loved him and kept him warm.
And Daisy would kiss him and he would understand.

Memories can be an awful thing. The pain and the hurt they bring.
But back to the now and you get a nice surprise…in puppy eyes.

So Daniel he lives his life day by day.
The battles he fights never go away.
But Daisy will be there, she’s doing all she can.
Cause love is the thing…that makes us whole.
And brown puppy eyes see down to your soul.
Comfort and grace is the place where love began.
And that’s how you heal a wounded man.
